‘Nona Pani’ to be premiered at Kolkata Int’l Film Festival

Bangladeshi film ‘Nona Pani' (Barren Waters) will participate in the 29th Kolkata International Film Festival in Kolkata, India. The festival will be held in Kolkata from 5 to 12 December, organised by the Information and Cultural Affairs Department, Government of West Bengal.

Directed by Syeda Neegar Banu and produced by Bengal Creations Ltd, ‘Nona Pani’ will have its world premiere in the ‘Asia Select’ category of the festival.

‘Nona Pani’ is the only film to represent Bangladesh in the prestigious festival. The film has been nominated in the ‘Asial Select’ section of the fest.

“It is a great pleasure for the ‘Nona Pani’ team that the film will make its debut at ‘World Cinema’ through the Kolkata International Film Festival. We hope that the story of the marginal people of Bangladesh who will reach the world.” said the director.

The film is based on the stories of marginal people in Khulna who were severely affected by global climate change. Produced by Bengal Cinema Development Forum, ‘Nona Pani’ stars Bilquis Banu, Jayita Mahalanobish, Raqibul Haque Ripon, Jayanta Chattopadhyay, Bina Majumder, Shukanata Sarker and others.
