All parties reach consensus for inclusive July Proclamation: Asif Nazrul

All political parties have reached a consensus about an inclusive July Proclamation recognising the contributions of all parties that participated in the recent movement, said the Law Adviser of the Interm Government Dr Asif Nazrul.

He made the remark after a meeting of political parties with Chief Adviser Dr Yunus at Foreign Service Academy on Thursday.

The Adviser said an inclusive July Proclamation will be prepared acknowledging the contributions of all. It may take more time but we’ll have to remain alert that time is not wasted.

He said a work plan will be prepared over the July Proclamation based on consensus.

interim government sat in an ‘all-party’ meeting to finalise the “July Proclamation” based on a ‘national consensus’ this afternoon.

BNP Standing Committee member Salahuddin Ahmed and representatives of other political parties joined the meeting at the Foreign Service Academy.

Earlier, the interim government initiated the process of preparing a declaration on the July uprising, based on a national consensus.

According to the Chief Adviser’s (CA’s) press wing, the declaration will be adopted to solidify the unity of people forged through the July uprising, reflecting its anti-fascist spirit and the demand for state reforms.

The draft will incorporate the views of all political parties and students, including those of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement that spearheaded the mass uprising.

The declaration will articulate the perspective of the July uprising, the foundation of unity and the aspirations of people, the press wing noted.

The government expressed optimism that the declaration would be prepared unanimously with participation from all stakeholders and then presented to the nation.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina arrived in Washington DC, the USA capital city, this afternoon after joining the 78th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) session and other high-level side and bilateral events in New York.

 

She reached Washington DC from New York by road at 6pm.

On her arrival in Washington DC, Bangladesh Ambassador to the USA Muhammad Imran received the premier with a flower bouquet, reports BSS.

Earlier, she left her Place of Residence, Lotte New York for Washington DC at 12:30pm.

She arrived in New York on September 17.

The prime minister will leave Washington DC for London, the capital city of the United Kingdom, on September 29.

She will stay in London till October 3.

After wrapping up her visit, the prime minister will leave London for home and scheduled to reach Dhaka on October 4.

"An MoU will be signed between the National Payments Corporation of India and the Bangladesh Bank to make transactions in rupees and taka between Bangladesh and India easier," said the foreign minister in a press conference at the Foreign Service Academy in the capital on Thursday.

Besides, the neighbouring countries are likely to sign two more memorandums of understanding regarding cooperation in agricultural researches, and extension of the existing cultural exchange programme for two years, said the foreign minister.
