
The joint forces led by Bangladesh army have arrested 390 criminals during a week-long drive across the country and recovered a huge number of arms and ammunition, sharp weapons and various drugs from them.
From April 10 to April 17, units of different infantry divisions and independent brigades of the Bangladesh Army, alongside other law-enforcing agencies, conducted drives in Dhaka and other parts of the country, the Inter-Services Public Relations, ISPR, said this in a statement on Friday, April 18.
The statement said a total of 390 criminals, including listed terrorists, robbers, extortionists, fugitive accused, muggers, teen gang members, drug traders and drug addicts, were arrested in the drives.
Ten illegal weapons, 46 ammunitions, different types of drugs, local-made weapons, snatched mobile phones and laptops, foreign currencies and cash were recovered from their possessions.
The sources said the arrestees were handed over to concerned police stations after primary interrogations.
Apart from these, Bangladesh Army units carried out patrolling and conducted safety activities across the country marking the Pahela Baishakh. They also provided overall security following some untoward incidents like vandalizing and looting of different business centres.
