Baul safeguarding

Since ancient times, the people of Bengal have been leading their lives by believing in mysticism, devotion, love, modesty and spirituality. For hundreds of years in every district and city-port of this country, many thinkers and sadh-kakbis have been born in the tradition of Guru Shishya.

Every inch of land is constantly fertilized by laying a network of rivers and canals, canals and streams in every region of the country. In the same way, poets and thinkers influence the human mind in the pursuit of the infinite within the limits of melody by supplying the human mind with ideas.

Although their written or historical history is not very old, the lifestyle and pursuits of the poets and saints of the Charyapad are similar to this Baul doctrine.

Some researchers think that the first verse of Charyapad "Ka a turuburu panchbidal chanchal chiye paith kal" is about Baul's physiology. The written revelation of Baul's doctrine is from the second half of the 1700's (1650) AD. Gener Dhara, Dr. Mridul Kanti Chakraborty, page-58).

Madhab Bibi's disciple Nityananda son Veerbhadra popularized Baul thought. And in the 19th century, it got its full development through the creation and propagation of Lalan Fakir. At this time, Kangal Harinath Majumdar (1833-1896) gained popularity by composing Baul sadhana and Baul songs.

The Baul Sadhaka poets of Bengal have contributed to all the movements and struggles for the sake of Bengali language, liberation war and patriotism.

After independence, former President of Bangladesh  Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman called Abdul Latif, a famous musician of that time, and said, "Where are you, Latif?".My Bauls are working in factories today to provide food. If they work, who will sing my Baul songs? You take them out of their jobs, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman will pay them, Bangladesh government will pay them"

The sad thing is that Rabindranath Tagore turned into Rabindra Baul and composed several Baul songs, he wrote in Baul tune "My Golden Bengal, I love you" Kazi Nazrul Islam wrote "Ami bhai Khapa Baul amar deul ai amar ai apan deh".

At the national and international level of bauls, the former foreign secretary of India Muskun Dubey, Japan's Hiroshima University Professor Masahiko Togoya, America's researcher Caro Solomon, Dr. Many thinkers (teachers, researchers) including Keith Edward Cantu were fascinated by Bengal's Baulgan and Baul philosophy, and they were engrossed in Baul pursuits, but we could not determine the correct number of Bauls and create a barrier-free environment for their pursuits and lifestyles.

Baul and Baul philosophy which poet Rarbindranath Tagore mentioned with pride in the 'Hibart Lecture and Indian Philosophy Mahasabha' in London, in order to make proper propagation of Baul philosophy and its globalization in the international arena, first of all, the exact number of Bauls in Bangladesh and their socio-economic status must be surveyed. The hope is that Baul songs and Baul philosophy have literary, cultural and commercial value to Bengali speakers and other people worldwide.

On November 25, 2005, the Baul song was recognized by UNESCO as "A Masterpiece Of The Oral Intangible Heritage Of Humanity". This recognition means that UNESCO and the Government of Bangladesh should maintain it by determining an accurate number of Bauls and surveying their socio-economic status.

it is a matter of joy that, Bangladesh Baul and Lakoshilpi Sangstha is conducting a survey "Title Socio-economic survey of bauls of Bangladesh" under the UNESCO participation program and in collaboration with the Bangladesh National UNESCO Commission to determine the exact number, database and socio-economic status of the Bauls of Bangladesh.
