Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader came under fire by former leaders of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) for not allowing them to speak at an exchange meeting where they were invited.
The meeting, held Wednesday morning at the Awami League central office in Dhaka, was intended as a platform to discuss the ongoing protests.
However, Quader's refusal to interact with the attendees sparked immediate backlash.
As Quader wrapped up his speech and left without addressing the former student leaders, shouts of “bhua bhua” erupted from the audience.
Several ex-Chhatra League members took to social media to express their anger, sharing photos from the event and criticizing the meeting’s outcome.
The party informed the media that Obaidul Quader would exchange views with the former student leaders, but that did not happen.
Attendees also noted that this pattern of meeting, where senior leaders don’t engage in real dialogue, is a regular routine.
