Bangladesh face India again in SAFF U-16 final today

Motivated Bangladesh U-16 national eve football team will face India again in final match of SAFF U-16 Women's Championship scheduled held today at ANFA Complex in Kathmandu, Nepal.

The match kicks off at 3.15 pm (BST).

Bangladesh and India have been the most successful nations in women's football in the SAFF Championship and the Sunday's final will add another chapter between the two rivals.

Bangladesh so far has shown classy football throughout the tournament. The girls in red and green drew the first match beating Nepal 2-0 in their opening round-robin league match and defeated strong India by 3-1 goals in the second match.

The Bengal Tigresses thrashed Bhutan by 6-0 goals to maintain their supremacy through the tournament.

India also made a flying start crushing Bhutan 7-0 and Nepal 10-0 in the tournament.

The Saiful Bari Titu's side will be physiologically ahead than India before the nerve-wrecking final following their 3-1 victory over India, but rejuvenated India must be aiming to fight back in the final after their refreshing last match victory over host Nepal.

Addressing at a pre final press conference today (Saturday), Bangladesh's head coach Saiful Bari Titu said his girls worked hard and confirmed the final with one match in hand.

He said the two best teams will play the final match and anything can happen in the final.

Commenting on India team, Titu said India is a very good side, especially their attacking strength is very good.

The Bangladesh's coach thinks that the final match should be memorable for both the teams.

Titu said final match means a nerve-wrecking pressure. Those who overcome it and commit less mistake in the match have chance to win the final.

Bangladesh skipper Arpita Biswas, who was one of the scorer in the win over India match, said the team is in good shape at the moment and they have taken one and half month preparation for the SAFF tournament.

She said they have good team spirit at the moment and want to continue it and players are prepared to give their best effort in the final to win the trophy.

Bangladesh earlier won title of the SAFF U-15 in 2017 and U-19 title in 2021. In the latest meeting between the two sides U-19 final ended with the trophy being shared at a match held last month in Dhaka.

Neymar quits PSG to sign for Saudi Arabia’s Al-Hilal

Neymar said he was relishing “new challenges and opportunities in new places” after he joined Saudi Arabia’s Al-Hilal from Paris Saint-Germain on a two-year deal Tuesday, becoming the latest big name lured to the oil-rich Gulf state.

The Brazil forward, 31, ends a six-year stay in the French capital and follows in the footsteps of Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and Sadio Mane in swapping Europe for the Middle East.

“I have achieved a lot in Europe and enjoyed special times, but I have always wanted to be a global player and test myself with new challenges and opportunities in new places,” Neymar said in a statement from the Saudi Pro League.

“I want to write new sporting history, and the Saudi Pro League has tremendous energy and quality players at the moment,” he added.

Neymar was “in negotiations” on Sunday to become the latest football superstar to decamp for Saudi Arabia, leaving Paris Saint-Germain just as Kylian Mbappe was brought back in from the cold by the French champions.

A source close to PSG told AFP that 31-year-old Neymar “no longer figures in the club or manager’s plans” with the Brazilian immediately linked to Al-Hilal in the Gulf kingdom.

Another source in Saudi Arabia said that “direct negotiations” between Neymar’s agents and the Public Investment Fund (PIF) were ongoing.

PSG get better of Dortmund in Champions League opener

Paris Saint-Germain got their Champions League campaign off to a winning start on Tuesday as a Kylian Mbappe penalty set them up for a 2-0 victory over Borussia Dortmund at the Parc des Princes.

The French champions had dominated the first half without overly troubling the Dortmund defence, but they went ahead four minutes after the break when Mbappe scored a spot-kick awarded for a Niklas Suele handball.

Achraf Hakimi added a memorable second, and PSG could have won the Group F encounter by a far more handsome margin in the end.

The result immediately puts them in control of the group, after AC Milan and Newcastle United drew 0-0 earlier, and coach Luis Enrique will hope they can build on this performance when they visit the English side next in a fortnight.

"It was an almost perfect evening," said Luis Enrique.
