Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Aminul Islam Bulbul is reluctant to put extra pressure on the cricketers despite the performance graph taking a huge nosedive.

The Bangladesh national team, which is on a Pakistan tour now, will play the third and final T20 against the hosts tonight in a bid to avoid a whitewash after conceding the series.

Earlier, they tasted a shocking 2-1 defeat to ICC associate nations United Arab Emirates (UAE), that created a massive uproar back in the country.

“We haven’t spoken to the cricketers yet. Our Vice President Nazmul Abedeen Fahim is there (in Pakistan) with the team and we have spoken to him. We are trying not to put any extra pressure on the cricketers,” Aminul told the reporters here today after emerging out from a meeting with Youth and Sports Adviser Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuiyan.

It was his first meeting with the adviser after taking the charge of the BCB a couple of days ago.

“My job is not to talk to the cricketers, my job is to talk to the directors. I will definitely speak when necessary. It’s not better to talk to the cricketers in the midst of a series,” Aminul, also a former skipper of Bangladesh, explained as to why he is not in favour of putting any pressure on the cricketers.

Regarding the performance of the Bangladesh team, Aminul said, “The graph always goes up and down in cricket. It is not just in Bangladesh cricket, but everywhere.”

“I have just taken the charge. Let me see a little more first. The performance will definitely improve... the graph will go up... if we can implement the plans.”

Aminul, the first Test centurion of the country has taken charge as the 17th president of the BCB.

A day after taking the charge, he delivered a presentation by his own in a board of directors meeting as he gave some plans to implement.

Highlighting the board's work plan, BCB’s media and communication committee chairman Iftekhar Rahman Mithu said, “A major outcome of the meeting was the decision to decentralize cricket operations in Bangladesh.”

The plan will begin with two pilot projects in the country's northern and southern parts, where BCB will set up its office.

Citing it as a totally fresh beginning, he said, "We will kick off this project immediately. There are also plans to develop coaches, umpires, and curators through talent hunts and training initiatives.”

Neymar quits PSG to sign for Saudi Arabia’s Al-Hilal

Neymar said he was relishing “new challenges and opportunities in new places” after he joined Saudi Arabia’s Al-Hilal from Paris Saint-Germain on a two-year deal Tuesday, becoming the latest big name lured to the oil-rich Gulf state.

The Brazil forward, 31, ends a six-year stay in the French capital and follows in the footsteps of Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and Sadio Mane in swapping Europe for the Middle East.

“I have achieved a lot in Europe and enjoyed special times, but I have always wanted to be a global player and test myself with new challenges and opportunities in new places,” Neymar said in a statement from the Saudi Pro League.

“I want to write new sporting history, and the Saudi Pro League has tremendous energy and quality players at the moment,” he added.

Neymar ‘in negotiations’ over Saudi move as Mbappe returns to PSG good books

Neymar was “in negotiations” on Sunday to become the latest football superstar to decamp for Saudi Arabia, leaving Paris Saint-Germain just as Kylian Mbappe was brought back in from the cold by the French champions.

A source close to PSG told AFP that 31-year-old Neymar “no longer figures in the club or manager’s plans” with the Brazilian immediately linked to Al-Hilal in the Gulf kingdom.

Another source in Saudi Arabia said that “direct negotiations” between Neymar’s agents and the Public Investment Fund (PIF) were ongoing.

PSG get better of Dortmund in Champions League opener

Paris Saint-Germain got their Champions League campaign off to a winning start on Tuesday as a Kylian Mbappe penalty set them up for a 2-0 victory over Borussia Dortmund at the Parc des Princes.

The French champions had dominated the first half without overly troubling the Dortmund defence, but they went ahead four minutes after the break when Mbappe scored a spot-kick awarded for a Niklas Suele handball.

Achraf Hakimi added a memorable second, and PSG could have won the Group F encounter by a far more handsome margin in the end.

The result immediately puts them in control of the group, after AC Milan and Newcastle United drew 0-0 earlier, and coach Luis Enrique will hope they can build on this performance when they visit the English side next in a fortnight.

"It was an almost perfect evening," said Luis Enrique.
