A three-day National Science Festival has started with great enthusiasm at St. Gregory's High School and College, a traditional educational institution in Old Dhaka on Thursday.
The school has been organising the science fair since 1966 to make its students science minded, but this is the 15th time that the Gregorian Science Club of St. Gregory High School and College has organised the event at the national level.
The Principal of St. Gregory High School and College Brother Ujjal Placid Perera CSC presided over the event, Dean of Science Faculty of Jagannath University Dr. Shahjahan was present as chief guest, Kotyali Thana Secondary Education Officer Farhana Shaheen Lipi was present as special guest.
Speaking on the occasion, Brother Ujjal Placid Perera said we are now living in the AI (Artificial Intelligent) age. Our students need to acquire knowledge on various subjects including ChatGPT. We have to get out of rote based studies and do science minded activities.
"By organising the science fair, our students will get ready for the fourth Industrial revolution, they will get to know new information. Our students will be science-minded," he added.

With the slogan 'Science-minded generation is the shaper of smart Bangladesh', Gregorian Science Club invited almost all the reputed educational institutions of the city to this festival, said Shukhan Chandra, moderator of the Science Club.
Besides, Olympiad, Science Project Display, Science Wall Magazine Competition, Project Idea Presentation will be held during the fair, he said.
Professor Shahjahan, Dean of Science Faculty of Jagannath University inaugurated the fair on the school premises.
Chairman of Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission Shaukat Akbar, Gregorian Professor of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering of Bangladesh University of Engineering Dr Shahidul Islam and Director of CSRM Aminul Islam will be present at the closing and prize distribution ceremony of the fair on March 9.
