Former Vice-Chancellor of Begum Rokeya University, Dr. Hasibur Rashid, who was convicted and sentenced to 10 years in prison in connection with the killing of university student Shaheed Abu Sayeed during the July uprising, was arrested in the capital’s Mohammadpur area on Saturday night (May 16).
He had been absconding since the International Crimes Tribunal-2 delivered its verdict in the case.
Police are expected to provide further details regarding his legal processing and transfer to the relevant authorities in Rangpur.
