A Dhaka court on Thursday ordered to confiscate all movable and immovable properties of Quazi Abu Mahmud Faisal, first secretary (Taxes Legal and Enforcement) of the National Board of Revenue, his wife Afsana Jasmin and some of his nearest relatives in connection with graft allegations brought against them.
The court of Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Mohammed Ash-Shams Joglul Hossain passed the order, allowing a plea of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
Of the properties which have been ordered to be confiscated are a Dhaka flat, two ten-katha plots and savings certificates of Taka 2.55 crore of Foysal, his wife and people near to him.
According to the case documents, the ACC was probing allegations against Foysal for amassing illegal wealth. The anti-graft body in its primary investigation found evidences against the NBR officials and his family and filed the plea.
