The law enforcement agencies arrested eighty-two people in Gazipur on Saturday night. Among them, forty people in five police stations of the district and forty-two people in eight police stations of the metropolis.
All those detained are known to be Awami League leaders and activists.
Chowdhury Jaber Sadek, the Gazipur Superintendent of Police (SP), stated that forty people have been arrested so far (9 am) in 'Operation Devil Hunt,' which started on Saturday.
Operations are still ongoing in various police stations of the district.
Meanwhile, Gazipur Metropolitan Police, Bangladesh Army, RAB, and other law enforcement forces conducted "Operation Devil Hunt' throughout the night.
Metropolitan police arrested a total of 42 people in eight police stations of Gazipur city. Out of this, two persons were arrested in Pubail Police Station, 16 persons in Metro Sadar Police Station, seven persons in Basan Police Station, seven persons in Tongi Purba Police Station, five persons in Gacha Police Station, two persons in Konabari Police Station, and three persons in Kashimpur Police Station. Additional Police Commissioner Zahidul Hasan said that the Metropolitan Police has been conducting raids in various police stations of Gazipur for the past two days.
