A fire that broke out at the Zant Accessories factory inside the Karnaphuli Export Processing Zone (KEPZ) in Chattogram’s Patenga area on Friday afternoon was brought under control after nearly three hours of effort.
According to the Chattogram Divisional Fire Service control room telephone operator Mozammel, the blaze erupted around 3 pm, prompting the deployment of eight firefighting units from various stations, including Karnaphuli, EPZ, and Agrabad.
He said that the units worked promptly to douse the flames, and the fire was controlled by around 4:30 pm.
The exact cause of the fire and the extent of damage could not be immediately confirmed.
