12 police officials transferred

The government has transferred 12 officials of the Bangladesh Police, holding the ranks of additional deputy inspector general (DIGs) and superintendent of police (SPs), in a single reshuffle.

The order will come into effect immediately, according to two notifications issued by Deputy Secretary of the Home Affairs Ministry Tousif Ahmed, on Thursday.

One of the notifications said, Commander (Additional DIG) of Armed Police Battalion-12 (APBn-12) Md Iqbal has been transferred to APBn-5, Addl DIG of Highway Police Md Enamul Kabir to APBn-12, Commander (Additional DIG) of APBn-113 Mohammad Sihab Kaisar Khan to Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) as Addl DIG, Directors of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) Md Khalidul Haque Hawlader and Mohammad Kamruzzaman to Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) as joint commissioners and supernumerary Addl DIG (Deputy Commissioner) of DMP Mohammad Rabiul Hossain Bhuiyan to River Police as SP (supernumerary Addl DIG).

The same notification said Commandant (SP) of In-service Training Centre, Satkhira Md Mokbul Hossain, has been transferred to In-service Training Centre, Kushtia and supernumerary SP (Addl SP) of APBn Nusrat Jahan Mukta, to Special Branch (SB) as Addl SP.

Another transfer order said SP of Dhaka, Md Mizanur Rahman, has been transferred to PBI as SP, SP of Police Headquarters (PHQ), Shamima Perveen to Dhaka District as SP, SP of Bagerhat Mohammad Hasan Chowdhury to Chattogram Range, as SP, and DC of DMP Mohammad Naser Rikabdar to Bagerhat district as SP.

PM reaches Washington DC from New York

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina arrived in Washington DC, the USA capital city, this afternoon after joining the 78th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) session and other high-level side and bilateral events in New York.

 

She reached Washington DC from New York by road at 6pm.

On her arrival in Washington DC, Bangladesh Ambassador to the USA Muhammad Imran received the premier with a flower bouquet, reports BSS.

Earlier, she left her Place of Residence, Lotte New York for Washington DC at 12:30pm.

She arrived in New York on September 17.

The prime minister will leave Washington DC for London, the capital city of the United Kingdom, on September 29.

She will stay in London till October 3.

After wrapping up her visit, the prime minister will leave London for home and scheduled to reach Dhaka on October 4.

"An MoU will be signed between the National Payments Corporation of India and the Bangladesh Bank to make transactions in rupees and taka between Bangladesh and India easier," said the foreign minister in a press conference at the Foreign Service Academy in the capital on Thursday.

Besides, the neighbouring countries are likely to sign two more memorandums of understanding regarding cooperation in agricultural researches, and extension of the existing cultural exchange programme for two years, said the foreign minister.
