Criticing the opposition political parties in parliament, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has alleged that they don't want to accept the budget.
"The opposition parties don't want to accept the people-oriented budget where taxes are lowered while the prices of liquour and cigarettes are increased. It indicates that their only objective is to create instability in the country," he said.
The prime minister stated it after inaugurating the re-excavation work of 'Patli Canal,' linked to his father's memory, at Cox's Bazar Sadar upazila on Saturday.
Tarique Rahman said it was announced in the budget to take the medical treatment facilities to every doorstep of the country. "The objective of everything is to serve people, because they are owner of the country. No particular family or political party doesn't own the country. So, I want to ask people that the government makes arrangement in the budget to make people's lives easier. Could they become friends of people who oppose it?"
The Prime Minister also said price of goods increases after the announcement of each budget. But, the price of essentials has not increased after the present government announced the budget.
Tarique Rahman said the BNP is now trying to build the nation like that of the past. But, the conspirators halted the progress of the country through conspiracy. "People have voted the BNP to power. So, we will try to work for the development of the country as long as we remain alive, because this country is the first and last address of BNP. The government has started fulfilling its electoral pledges before drying up the voting ink from people's fingers."
