The body of Nahida Sultana Brishty, who was brutally murdered in the United States, has arrived in Bangladesh.
The body reached Dhaka at 8:40am on Saturday (May 9) aboard an flight via Dubai.
Bristy' parents, relatives, and friends arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport to receive her body. They arrived at the airport by a private car at 8:45am. At that time, the family members were found grief-stricken.
After completion of all formalities at the Dhaka airport, an freezing ambulance carrying Bristy's body left for her village home in Madaripur district. It is learnt that the bristy's body is likely to reach her village home at village Char Gobindapur under Khowajpur union in Sadar upazila of Madaripur district by 3:00pm.
Receiving information, relatives, friends and locals started thronging Bristy's village home since early Saturday morning to have a glimpse of her face for the last time.
Relatives said digging of the grave was completed. Bristy's namaj-e-janaza (funeral prayer) will be held at local Char Gobindapur High School ground after Asr prayers. After janaza, her body will be buried at family graveyard.
Bristy's uncle Danial Akon said: "Bristy used to advise all children of her village to pursue study whenever she came to village home. She advised them to be good human beings. None will give such advice anymore from now on."
"We haven't lost only our daughter, rather we've lost a beacon of light of our entire area. We seek justice into the killing of Bristy," he said.
Earlier, Brishty's body was flown from Orlando International Airport on Thursday at 8:50pm local time on Emirates flight EK-220 bound for Dhaka. After a transit in Dubai, the body arrived in Dhaka on Emirates flight EK-582.
A representative from the Bangladesh Consulate in Miami was present at the Orlando airport during the departure process.
On Wednesday, Brishty's first funeral prayer was held in Tampa. The body of Jamil Ahmed Limon, who was also killed in the same incident, arrived in Bangladesh on May 4.
Bristy was a PhD student at University of South Florida. She was doing PhD in Chemical Engineering. Another student-- Jamil Amed Limon -- of the same university also became the victim of brutal murder. He was doing PhD in Geography, Environmental Science and Police. His body arrived in Dhaka on May 4 last.
Both Bristy and Limon were confered doctorate degrees posthumously by the University of South Florida authorities.
