A motorcyclist was killed early Monday (May 18) being crashed by a cargo truck at Jahangir Gate area in the capital. The accident happened at about 1:00am.

Police said the victim Zakaria hailed from Thakurgaon district. He lived at Hemayetpur in the capital.

Witnesses said the slain motorcyclist was heading toward Bijoy Sarani from Mohakhali at night. When he reached near Jahangir Gate, a speeding cargo truck rammed them and the motorcyclist with his motorbike fell under the rear wheel of the truck, leaving a side of his body badly bruised.

Rescuing him, the pedestrians sent him to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital where an on-duty doctor pronounced him dead.

"An MoU will be signed between the National Payments Corporation of India and the Bangladesh Bank to make transactions in rupees and taka between Bangladesh and India easier," said the foreign minister in a press conference at the Foreign Service Academy in the capital on Thursday.

Besides, the neighbouring countries are likely to sign two more memorandums of understanding regarding cooperation in agricultural researches, and extension of the existing cultural exchange programme for two years, said the foreign minister.
