A Dhaka court on Thursday (June 18) sent former managing director of Somoy Television Ahmed Jobayer to jail in a forgery case.
The order was given as he ignored the court's summons in a breach of trust and bank forgery case.
Earlier on Wednesday (June 17), Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Arifur Rahman ordered to issue arrest warrant against him. The court issued arrest warrant as he failed to appear before court in time.
It may be mentioned that six accused including Ahmed Jobayer were asked to make explanation appearing before court in a breach of trust and bank forgery case filed with the Kalabagan Police Station in the capital. In this regard, the Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate court issued a summon on May 10 last. June 17 was the last day for them to answer in court, but no one showed up. Then the court issued arrest warrant against them.
