Two people went missing after a trawler hit a trawler near Shyambazar Ghat in Dhaka have been found alive and safe. 

According to the Fire Service and Civil Defense, they successfully swam to the riverbank and are in good health.

The accident happened sometime between 8:30am and 9:30am on Sunday (July 19)  near Shyambazar Ghat area of Sadarghat.

The newly-built trawler was traveling from Gazipur's Kaddabazar toward Muradnagar in Cumilla. Near Sadarghat, its propeller became entangled in an object, causing the engine to stall. 

The Dhaka-bound trawler, MV Sundarban-12, arriving from Barishal, then struck the stationary trawler, causing it to sink.

There were 10 people on board the trawler. Local residents immediately rescued 8 passengers right after the collision.

"An MoU will be signed between the National Payments Corporation of India and the Bangladesh Bank to make transactions in rupees and taka between Bangladesh and India easier," said the foreign minister in a press conference at the Foreign Service Academy in the capital on Thursday.

Besides, the neighbouring countries are likely to sign two more memorandums of understanding regarding cooperation in agricultural researches, and extension of the existing cultural exchange programme for two years, said the foreign minister.
