Demanding the change of the mafia-corruption system in the country, National Citizens Party (NCP) convener Nahid Islam on Saturday said it is not just the fall of Sheikh Hasina, but the country's political system must be changed. Not just the change of power, but the mafia-corruption system must be changed.
In 2024, we protested to topple the Hasina government, but this time our program is to build a new country," he made the remark at a 'July Road Rally' organized by the district NCP at Shahid Dr. Abul Kashem Maydan in Joypurhat city on Saturday (July 5).
Nahid Islam said in the last one year, we have not seen that (mafia-corruption system) change. We still see terrorism, extortion, mafia system in different areas.
"Justice and reform are needed at this moment. Through this, we have to move towards democratic change," he added.
NCP Senior Joint Convener Samantha Sharmin, Member Secretary Akhtar Hossain, Senior Joint Member Secretary Dr. Tasneem Zara, Chief Coordinator Nasiruddin Patwari and District NCP Joint Coordinator Omar Ali Babu among others present at the event.
