Nixon Chowdhury would acquire the land if he liked it

Nixon Chowdhury, also known as Mujibur Rahman Chowdhury, was elected to the Member of Parliament three times as an independent candidate from the Faridpur-4 Constituency. He came into the limelight during election campaigns with flashy speeches and by criticizing heavyweight political leaders during election campaigns. He pledged to fight corruption during the 10th National Assembly election campaign when he was campaigning for the first time. He defeated Kazi Zafarullah, the powerful leader of the Awami League, thanks to the votes of the people of Bhanga, Sadarpur, and Charbhadrasan.

Then he didn't need to turn around. Over time, power and wealth grow. He became unstoppable in the district Awami League politics since he was a relative of the Sheikh family. There are complaints that he used to buy the land, which he liked. Locals had to sell land to him at a nominal price against their will. If anyone disagreed, he was captured and tortured in his farmhouse. But no one dared to open their mouths out of fear.

It has been found that Nixon Chowdhury had bought the farmhouse at Brahmanpara village of Azimnagar in Bhangar at a nominal price. He bought these croplands near the highway for Tk five to six lakh per bigha. But then the real value of the land was three times more than the purchase price.

The distance from Bhanga's Surjanagar bus stand to Nixon Chowdhury's farmhouse is about three kilometers. He has taken possession of more than a thousand bighas of cropland and some Khas land on both sides of this road. The place is named Ayman Island.

Locals said that Nixon Chodhuri used to tempt in various ways to take over the land. The locals were told that hospitals, parks, etc. would be built there. But later he started selling plots in the form of plots along the highway, near the Padma Bridge.

Some family members of that area said that they had to lose their cropland to Ayman Island. Later, they were also asked to give their houses. They had to leave their homes if there was no political change.

"My land has been forced to sell at a nominal price. Anyone who spoke against him had to endure unlimited torture," said Samrat Shikder, a resident of the area.

His wealth started to increase after becoming an MP. It is known that Mujibur Rahman Chowdhury, alias Nixon Chowdhury, a resident of Madaripur's Shibchar, was elected from the Faridpur-4 (Bhanga, Sadarpur, Charbhadrasan) constituency in the 10th National Assembly election as an independent candidate 10 years ago. There was no land in his name in Bhanga of Faridpur at that time.

It is alleged that he bought the land of many Hindu families in these areas at a nominal price. They wanted to talk about the matter several times, but they were not allowed.

According to the affidavit given to the Election Commission, Nixon Chowdhury became the owner of 975.23 percent of land in the first five years (2014-2018) in Bhanga of Faridpur. Another 1064.05 percent of land was added to that land in the next five years (2018-2023). Now the amount of land in that area is 2039.28 percent.

Apart from Faridpur, Nixon Chowdhury and his wife have several flats in Dhaka. He has also several businesses in his name. Among these are Nipa Paribahan Limited, Rita Construction Limited, Swadhin Bangla Filling and Servicing Station, N Dairy Farm, N Duck Farm and N Fisheries Farm. It has been confirmed through various sources that a huge amount of money comes from these institutions.

Locals complain that he thought himself unstoppable by the influence of wealth and power. A torture cell was set up in his Azimnagar home to suppress dissent. He used to drown people in the pond of his farmhouse if they didn't listen to him, along with physical abuse. But the victims never dared to open their mouths. The people of Shibchar of Madaripur used to sit around his house like guards. Not only local residents but also local administration officials did not say anything against Nixon Chowdhury out of fear.

He became irresistible at the introduction of the Sheikh family

Nixon is the younger brother of former Chief Whip Noor-e-Alam Chowdhury Liton and the son of Ilyas Ahmed Chowdhury, a cousin of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Being a relative of the Sheikh family, he came just 19 days before the 2014 election and became a Member of Parliament for the Faridpur-4 Constituency, comprising Bhanga, Sadarpur, and Charbhadrasan. Nixon was elected as a member of the Presidium of the Bangladesh Awami Jubo League in November 2020. With this stance, he made a direct entry into Awami League politics.

He rose to prominence in the region as a special leader since he was related to former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. His impact on Awami League politics in the Faridpur district was significant. He used a variety of strategies to make an expatriate the president of the Awami League in the Faridpur district. However, a worker for his competitor, Kazi Zafarullah, was appointed general secretary. The two held the positions of general secretary and president of the district Awami League. It was then discussed why the "incompetent" was appointed president-general secretary despite the fact that the party's leaders and members were still out of the area. According to information obtained from the district Awami League leaders, the two of them received this position in exchange for billions of takas. Nixon was also a member of the district Jubo League committee in the same way.

They say Nixon has a lot of money. Nixon is said to be wealthy. Since he is the former prime minister's nephew, he may be able to handle everything and return to Bhanga.
