Two more people succumbed to dengue in 24 hours till Friday morning, bringing the death toll from the mosquito-borne disease to 40 this year.
During this period, 159 more patients were admitted to the hospital due to viral fever, bringing the total number of infected people this year to 9,222, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Last year, dengue claimed the lives of 575 people.
