Israeli strikes kill 8 across Gaza, community kitchen workers among dead

At least eight Palestinians were killed in fresh Israeli attacks across the Gaza Strip on Sunday, including three aid workers killed in a strike on a community kitchen in central Gaza’s Deir el-Balah, the Al Jazeera reported.

According to reports from Gaza, the victims in Deir el-Balah were employees of the community kitchen serving displaced civilians amid worsening hunger and humanitarian shortages. Witnesses said the strike hit while food distribution efforts were underway.

Reacting to the attack, Hamas called it "a deliberate war crime" and accused Israel of continuing "genocide" in Gaza, saying the strike reflected "blatant disregard for international laws and humanitarian norms", the Al Jazeera reported.

Additional fatalities were reported in Khan Younis in southern Gaza and Beit Lahiya in the north as Israeli bombardment continued across multiple areas of the enclave.

Gaza's health ministry said the death toll since the war began on 7 October 2023, has risen to at least 72,760 Palestinians. The ministry added that at least 871 people have been killed since the ceasefire that began last October.

The Israeli military, which currently controls around 60 percent of Gaza through what it describes as a buffer zone marked by a "yellow line", said its forces killed a person in the area after identifying an "imminent threat". No evidence was provided.

HAMAS COMMANDER KILLED IN CAR

The Israeli military said it had also killed Bahaa Baroud, a Hamas Operations Headquarters commander, in an airstrike on Saturday, accusing him of planning multiple imminent attacks against troops and Israeli civilians in recent weeks.

The military said Baroud posed an immediate threat and was targeted in a precise strike, adding measures were taken beforehand to reduce civilian harm, including the use of ‌precision munitions and aerial surveillance.

Gaza health officials said Baroud, along with another person, was killed in the airstrike, which targeted their car in Gaza City.

Israel and Hamas remain deadlocked in indirect talks to ‌advance U.S. President Donald Trump's postwar plan for Gaza that is meant to end more than two years of fighting with Hamas disarming as Israeli troops withdraw from Gaza.

Some 870 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli strikes since the October ceasefire, ‌according to figures that do not distinguish between combatants and civilians. Four Israeli soldiers were killed by militants during the same period.

Hamas does not disclose figures for casualties among its fighters.

Explosion kills 34 at illegal fuel depot in Benin

At least 34 people, including two babies were killed when a contraband fuel depot exploded into flames in southern Benin near the border with Nigeria on Saturday.

According to Beninese Interior Minister Alassane Seidou, “a serious fire occurred in the town of Seme Podji. Another 20 people were seriously wounded in the incident.”

"I can't really give you the cause of the fire, but there is a large gasoline warehouse here and cars, tricycles and motorcycles come from morning to evening,” he added.

Nigeria is a main oil and gas producer where fuel smuggling is very common along its borders, particularly when the government maintains a subsidy to keep fuel prices low.

The majority of the victims were burnt and they could not be not be identified.

Why do we use it?

It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using 'Content here, content here', making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for 'lorem ipsum' will uncover many web sites still in their infancy. Various versions have evolved over the years, sometimes by accident, sometimes on purpose (injected humour and the like).
