Novelist and editor of the daily Khaborer Kagoj, Mostofa Kamal has said that the works of world poet Rabindranath Tagore and national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam have become even more relevant in the ongoing crisis of humanity and non-communalism around the world.
He said that there is doubt as to whether the Bengali nationhood would have developed if these two humanist poets had not been born.
Mostofa Kamal came up with these remarks at a program organized at the Bishwa Sahitya Kendra auditorium in the capital on Sunday (June 14).
In his chief guest speech, Mostofa Kamal said, in the extreme crisis of world humanity, the literature and philosophy of our two main poets are our greatest refuge.
He further said, "Rabindranath Tagore always sang the praises of humanity, while Nazrul was vocal against all kinds of injustice. He taught us that all religions speak of humanity."
The event was attended by prominent figures from the country's cultural scene, including central leaders of the Kristibandhan Sangathan.
Several distinguished personalities were felicitated for their special contributions to art and literature.
