Grameen Bank Chairman AKM Saiful Majid on Saturday said Nobel Laureate Dr Muhammad Yunus is not the owner of the seven organizations at Grameen Telecom Bhaban as he has no share in those organizations.

Grameen Bank has taken control of seven organizations in the Grameen Telecom Bhaban as per law, he said at a press conference at Grameen Bank office in city’s Mirpur.

Majid claimed that they have enough evidences that Dr Yunus are involved in money laundering and he siphoned money from Grameen Bank to form Grameen Telecom, Grameen Kalyan and Grameen Fund. They found it through audit in the last seven months, he said.

Majid said, “Dr Yunus didn’t establish those organizations from profit of his business. So, all of those organizations are of Grameen Bank’s, not of Dr Yunus’s.”

The Grameen Bank chairman said Grameen Kalyan and Grameen Telecom were established in the nineties. But many information regarding those organizations were not founded as they destroyed those information, he said.

It is mentionable that, Dr Yunus, at a press conference on Thursday last, alleged that Grameen Bank has illegally taken over their eight organizations.

Terming the allegation of Dr Yunus `not true’, Majid said Gramen Kalyan was established in 1996 under the Company Act in the 42nd board meeting of Board of Directors of Grameen Bank.

According to section 48 of the Articles of Association, Grammen Bank can appoint chairman of Grameen Kalyan, he said.

Majid said Dr Yunus had taken Taka 447 crore from Grameen Bank to establish the Grameen Kalyan and Taka 24 crore to establish Grameen Telecom. But, Grameen Telecom didn’t pay any interest or profit to Grameen Bank, he said.

Grammen Bank chairman said they issued letters to the seven organizations- Grameen Kalyan, Grameen Telecom, Grameen Fund, Grameen Mothsya Foundation, Grameen Udduyg, Grameen Samogree and Grameen Shokti- to take control.

Besides, he said, chairmen and directors have already been appointed in three organizations.
