Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) chief Masud Biswas on Tuesday said there is no investigation ongoing against the S Alam Group and there are no plans or directions to investigate in the future.

Masud Biswas told Khaborer Kagoj, ''We have told the journalists that our activities are going on as per the instructions. This message is not properly presented in the media.''

''We have not said anything that an investigation (against the S Alam Group) is being or will be. If we had done any investigation, we would have written to the banks. We would have taken the information from the bank. But no such letter was given anywhere from our side,'' he added.

In response to a question, Masud Biswas said, "We have not found anything negative against the chairman of S Alam Group or his family. A group is trying to confuse this issue by using some journalists and they are actually spreading the news with wrong information. But the matter is nothing like that. We have said that everything will be done as per the directions of the court."

In response to another question, he said, "We have contacted the concerned media, informed them about the wrong news they have spread and also informed the spokesperson of Bangladesh Bank about the matter."

Noted that, some online news portals and online versions of newspapers published the reports under the title 'Investigation against S Alam Group' quoting BFIU chief Masud Biswas, but Masud Biswas mentioned these news as baseless.
