The fire that broke out at the 2nd floor of six-storey building at Hatirpool in the capital on Thursday evening has been brought under control after about two and a half hours.
Anisur Rahman, officer of the control room at Fire Service and Civil Defence headquarters, said the fire broke out at around 6:05pm at the building.
Being informed seven units of firefighters promptly rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control.
At least four people have been rescued from the rooftop of the building, fire service officials said.
