The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-1 is set to deliver its verdict today (Tuesday) against former Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) commissioner Habibur Rahman and seven others in a case filed over crimes against humanity related to the killing of six people at Chankharpul area in the capital during the July uprising in 2024.
On Monday (January 19), a three-member judicial panel of the ICT-1, headed by its chairman Justice Md Golam Mortuza Majumder, fixed Tuesday (January 20) for delivering judgement over killing of six people at Chankharpul during the July mass uprising.

Eight police personnel, including former Dhaka metropolitan police commissioner Habibur Rahman, are accused in the case.
The four accused arrested in the case are former Shahbagh Police Station inspector (Operations) Md Arshad Hossain, constables Md Sujan Mia, Md Imaz Hossain Emon and Md Nasirul Islam. They have been produced before the tribunal in the morning amid tight security, it is learnt.
The fugitive accused are former DMP commissioner Habibur Rahman, former DMP joint commissioner Sudip Kumar Chakrabarty, former Ramna division additional deputy commissioner Shah Alam Md Akhtarul Islam, and former Ramna division assistant commissioner Mohammad Imrul.
On July 14 this year, the tribunal framed charges against the eight accused and ordered to start ther trial.
According to the case records, police opened fire on a peaceful student movement at Chankharpul on August 5, 2024. Six people — Shahriar Khan Anas, Sheikh Junayed, Md Yakub, Md Rakib Howlader, Md Ismamul Huque and Manik Mia Shahrik — were killed in the incident, while many others were injured.
