Bangladeshi PhD student Nahida Sultana Bristy has also been found dead in the United States, her elder brother Jahid Hasan Pranto has confirmed, days after she went missing from the University of South Florida campus.
He stated it in a Facebook post on Saturday (April 25) morning.
On his Facebook post, Zahid Hasan Pranto wrote: "Our sister is no more among us. Inna Lillahe Wa Inna Ilaihe Rajeun."
Nahida Sultana Bristy was studying Chemical Engineering at University of South Florida. She was a former student of 13th batch of the Department of Applied Chemistry and Chamical Engineering at Noakhali Science and Technology University in Bangladesh.
Jahid Hasan Pranto also told the BBC Bangla that though police were yet to find the body of Nahida Sultana Bristy, they confirmed about her death witnessing the blood in the suspect's house.
"The Florida police have also made a phone call to us and informed the matter. They said searching was being carried out to find out Bristy's body," he said.
Pranto said: "The local Florida police of the United States made a phone call early in the morning. She (Bristy) is yet to be found and recovered. The suspect (Hisham Saleh Abugharbieh) confirmed that the blood found inside his house was mainly of two individuals. The suspect was disposing another body."
He told media that their family got "devastated."
"My mother is still crying in the other room, and my father had an operation recently, so my home is just broken," Pranto said.
Earlier on Friday, police recovered the dead body of another missing Bangladeshi student Zamil Limon.
Police recovered the body of 27-year-old Zamil Limon from the Howard Frankland Bridge on Friday.
Hisham Saleh Abugharbieh, 26, was arrested on Friday in connection with the death of his roommate, Zamil Limon, authorities announced. The suspect had attended USF between 2021 and 2023 while he pursued a bachelor’s degree in management, a spokesperson for the university told CNN.
Both Zamil Limon and Nahida Bristy were last seen in the Tampa area on April 16, the University of South Florida Police Department said.
Nahida Bristy's brother Jahid Hasan Pranto said the U.S police confirmed him about the murder of his sister over phone.
Quoting the investigation officers, he said a severed piece of Nahida Bristy's body was recovered from the suspect's house which matched Nahida Bristy's body after DNA test.
