17 more children died with measles and measles-like symptoms in the last 24 hours till Monday morning, the highest single-day toll within 50 days since the first measles case was detected in the country.
Of the new deaths, two were confirmed as measles-related, while the remaining 15 were classified as suspected, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
With this, the total number of confirmed deaths from measles has risen to 52 and suspected deaths to 259 since March 15.
According to the DGHS data, since 15 March, a total of 41,793 suspected measles cases have been identified nationwide. Of them, a total of 5,467 measles cases were confirmed through laboratory testing.
DGHS data show that between 15 March and 4 May, a total of 28,832 suspected patients have been hospitalised so far. Of them, 25,151 have been recovered and released.
