Bangladesh has issued a strict warning regarding the possible "push in" (illegal, forced repatriation of individuals across the border) in the wake of change over of power in Indian state of West Bengal.
Foreign Minister Dr Khalilur Rahman has clearly asserted that Dhaka will not hesitate to take countermeasures if any kind of push-in takes place through the border with West Bengal.
He issued the warning while briefing journalists at the state guest house 'Padma' in Dhaka early Tuesday (May 5) afternoon.
The Foreign Minister said Dhaka has been watching the situation very closely in the wake of political change over in the neighbouring country and maximum alert has been issued to protect its border.
At the same briefing, Dr Khalilur Rahman briefed journalists about Prime Minister Tarique Rahman's ensuing visit to China.
The Foreign Minister said the Prime Minister has special diplomatic pledges to the friendly countries like China and India. "If everything is alright, the Prime Minister is likely to visit China in the coming month of June. A detailed plan for the visit is being finalised taking the convenient times of the prime ministers of two countries into account and coordinating their schedules," he said.
During the prime minister's China visit, major priority will be given to 'Teesta Master Plan."
He said the prime minister has firm commitment about the implementation of 'Teesta Master Plan.' "During the Prime Minister's visit, detailed will be discussed about China's cooperation and technical issues in implementing the master plan," he said.
It may be mentioned that 30 Bangladesh districts have borders with India and three districts have borders with Myanmar.
