A youth has been killed when a motorcycle struck him in front of cargo gate premises at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital.
The 26-year-old victim -- Ridoy Hossain -- was an Uber driver by profession.
The accident happened at about 8:30am on Thursday (May 21).
Critically injured Ridoy Hossain was first taken to Kurmitola General Hospital and then to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) by pedestrians. He died at the DMCH at about 1:30pm while underwent treatment.
Witnesses said a speeding motrcycle hit him when hee was crossing the road in front of cargo gate at the airport in the morning. He was critically injured being fell on the road. Then pedestrians rushed him to the hospitals.
Deceased Ridoy Hossain's younger brother Rajib Hossain said they hailed from Ghoshgaon village under Dhobaura upazila in Mymensingh district. Their father is Saidul Islam. At present, they live at Noor Haji Golli at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar in the capital. Ridoy used to work as a Uber driver. He went out of home with a private car on Thursday morning.
He further said they learnt over mobile phone that Ridoy was injured in the accident at airport area. Then they went to the DMCH and found him there undergoing treatment. His condition was very critical.
DMCH Police Camp In-charge Md Faruque said the body was kept at the hospital morgue. The matter was informed to Biman Bandar Police Station.
