Four people were killed after a chicken-laden pickup van crashed into a stationary bamboo-laden truck at Sakhipur upazila in Tangail district.
The accident occurred around 4:00am on Tuesday (June 9) at Kalia Ghonarchala area under Kalia union of the upazila.
The deceased were Noor Nabi (64), son of Abdul Hakim of Bakshiganj upazila in Jamalpur district; Rafiqul, 18, son of Md Polash of Patnitola upazila in Naogaon district; Sagar, 22, son of Md Ershad under Kendua upazila in Naogaon district, and Sumon, 26, son of Md Selim from Bhola district. Sumon lived at Mirpur-1 area in Dhaka.
Md Jahirul Islam, 40, son of Afsar Ali Mondal of village Lakkhindar under Ghatail upazila in Tangail district was critically injured in the accident. He was admitted to a hospital.
Sakhipur Police Station's ASI Md Al Mamun said the chicken-laden pick-up crashed into the bamboo-laden stationary truck at Kalia Ghonarchala area under the upazila at about 4:00am, leaving four people on the pick-up dead on the spot. The bodies were later taken to Sakhipur Police Station.
Families of the deceased were communicated. After the arrival of family members, the bodies will be handed over following necessary legal processes.
