The judge concerned has not yet signed the full verdict of Pallabi's Ramisa rape and murder case. The death reference file of the case is scheduled to be sent to High Court today (June 9) after signing by the judge.
Earlier on Sunday, Judge Masrur Salekin of the Dhaka Metropolitan Tribunal for the Prevention of Violence Against Children delivered the judgement in the much-talked about case. In his verdict, he sentenced prime accused Sohel Rana and his wife Swapna Akter to death by hanging. Then on Monday, convicts Sohel and Swapna were shifted to the condemned cells.
Framing chargesheet against Sohel and his wife Swapna on June 1 last, the tribunal ordered trial of the case. On the following day (June 2), recording of the testimonies in the case began. On that day, 16, out of 18 witnesses, submitted their depositions. Later, the tribunal set the date to deliver the verdict on conclusion of the arguments of both state and defence lawyers. The trial into the case ended in only four days.
