A death-row convict of a murder case who escaped from the Kashimpur High-Security Central Jail has been arrested by Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-4.
It was disclosed during a briefing at the RAB-4 headquarters on Saturday (July 11) morning.
RAB-4 said being tipped, they arrested Md Abdullah Sikder, an inhabitant of Tungipara in Gopalganj district, on Friday afternoon conducting a raid at the capital's Darus Salam area.
During the incident of violence and arson inside the jail on August 6, 2024, Abdullah Sikder escaped along with other inmates using a ladder made by breaking an electric pillar.
Since then, he had been hiding in various parts of the country in disguise.
He was arrested after a drive was conducted upon confirming his location through intelligence data and technological assistance.
The RAB-4 also said that a court had sentenced three accused, including Abdullah Sikder, to death for murdering a man with a hammer and an axe over collection of interest money back in 2021.
The arrested convict was handed over to the relevant police station for further legal action.
