Four held after arriving at Public Administration Ministry to join jobs
Md A Alim, from Gopalpur in Tangail district, Md Ali Haider, from Chouhali in Sirajganj district, Md Rasel Rana Liton from Nageshwari upazila in Kurigram district and Md Masud Fakir from Sreepur upazila in Gazipur district were arrested on Sunday

Four candidates selected for the position of 'Office Assistant' under the Ministry of Public Administration were arrested at the Secretariat on Sunday (July 19), due to structural discrepancies with their viva-voce admit card photographs.

The discrepancies were noticed by officials during the joining process when compared with the photos captured by the ministry during the viva examination.

Under intense questioning, the candidates confessed to hiring proxies to sit for their written and viva exams in exchange for large sums of money.

The Ministry of Public Administration has filed a case with Shahbagh Police Station in this regard.

The arrested four candidates were: Md A Alim, a resident of Gopalpur in Tangail (Roll: 19004489), Md Ali Haider, a resident of Chouhali, Sirajganj (Roll: 19016091), Md Rasel Rana Liton, a resident of Nageshwari upazila in Kurigram district (Roll: 19011093) and Md Masud Fakir, a resident of Sreepur upazila in Gazipur district (Roll: 19019257).

How the Fraud Was Detected

In order to prevent digital fraud, the Ministry of Public Administration took live photos of all candidates alongside their admit cards during the viva-voce held on June 24, 25, and 28.

Following the final selection of 20 candidates on July 6, they were instructed to join at 10:00am on July 19. When these four arrived to submit their joining letters, their faces did not match the previously stored photos.

Once the fraud was detected, the accused provided written confessions admitting they had paid proxy rings to secure the government jobs.

Under ministry orders, the accused were detained and handed over to the Shahbagh Police Station, where a formal case was filed against them.

The police have launched an investigation to uncover the broader fraud ring and identify any other accomplices involved.
