BNP Standing Committee member Salahuddin Ahmed today said that BNP does not want the resignation of Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus. However, if he does, the nation will choose an alternative.
"BNP does not want Dr. Muhammad Yunus' resignation, it wants an electoral roadmap. But time is being wasted by talking about reforms. However, if he (Dr. Yunus) resigns out of emotion for some reason, then the nation will choose a new alternative," he said while talking to media personnel on Friday (May 23).
He said BNP wants Dr. Yunus to remain in his post with honor and to free the nation from the crisis through an electoral roadmap. "An electoral roadmap is the only way out of the current crisis," he added.
At that time, he welcomed the army chief's statement on the elections, the corridor and the current situation in the country.
Salahuddin alleged that despite repeated requests to meet Dr Yunus recently, the BNP has not been able to reach out to him.
He said BNP will wait a few more days for the election roadmap, and then they will finalize what to do on the issue of cooperation with the government.
