"Save the Pashur River; save the Sundarbans; put an end to plastic and industrial pollution, and poisoning. The biodiversity of the Sundarbans is currently in jeopardy due to oil and coal sinking in the ships in the Pasur River. The Sundarbans ecology is protected if the Pashur River is in good condition," the speakers spoke at the human chain and symbolic river cleaning campaign on the occasion of World Rivers Day at 10 a.m. on September 21.

This human chain and symbolic river cleaning program was organized by Amra (Dhara), Waterkeepers Bangladesh, and Pasur River Waterkeepers on the banks of the Pasur River in Mongla.

The speakers said that the river is a living entity. Bangladesh will survive if the river survives. Killing of fish, industrial pollution, and plastic pollution should be stopped by poisoning the rivers and canals of the Sundarbans. There is a problem with the breeding of aquatic animals in the Pashur River of the Sundarbans due to shipping waste, coal, oil, and plastic pollution.

There were several notable people present on this occasion, including environmentalist Noor Alam Sheikh of Pasur River Waterkeeper, Mullah Al Mamun, leader of Dharitri Rakshay Amra (Dhara) lyricist, Kamla Sarkar of Waterkeepers Bangladesh, Sheikh Russell, Tanvi Mandal, Pradeep Sarkar, and many others.

"Today, the rivers and canals in Bangladesh's riverine areas are in danger. Bangladesh is currently a wasteland as a result of pollution and river encroachment. The Pashur River's aquatic life is in danger,"  stated Nur Alam Sheikh, the chief guest of the occasion.
