Bangladesh beat Netherlands by 25 runs in the T20 World Cup 2024 at the Arnos Vale Stadium in Kingstown, St. Vincent on Thursday.
Bangladesh set a formidable target of 160 runs, which the Netherlands couldn’t quite chase, managing only 134 runs in their allotted overs.
For the Netherlands, Engelbrecht stood out with a commendable 33 runs, while Vikramjit Singh contributed 26 runs. Scott Edwards and Michael Levitt added 25 and 18 runs respectively, but their efforts fell short against a disciplined Bangladeshi bowling attack.
Bangladesh’s Rishad Hossain was the pick of the bowlers, claiming 3 crucial wickets, supported by Taskin Ahmad who took 2 wickets. Their efforts effectively stifled the Dutch run chase.
On the batting front, Bangladesh was powered by an unbeaten 64-run innings from the experienced Shakibul Hasan. Tanzid Hasan also played a pivotal role, scoring 35 runs.
The Netherlands’ bowlers, Aryan Dutt and Paul van Meekeren, each took 2 wickets but couldn’t prevent Bangladesh from setting a challenging total.
This win bolsters Bangladesh’s standing in the T20 World Cup, while the Netherlands will need to regroup and strategize for their upcoming matches.
