Legal notice issued to actress Swagata demanding public apology

A legal notice has been sent against actress and singer Zinat Sanu Swagata, demanding a public apology for his controversial statement on social media about divorce and living together.

Supreme Court lawyer Muhammad Meshbah Uddin Chowdhury sent this notice on behalf of a person named Ariful Khabir on Saturday.

According to the notice, you (Swagata) publicly admit that you have been living together with a person named Hasan Azad for the past one year, which is encourages people to live together.

The notice says, being a Muslim, you know that living together between a man and a woman before marriage is completely haram (illegal). You have done this haram (illegal) act yourself and encouraged others, which will increase the level of adultery in society and create a chaotic environment. Through your statement, you have hurt the religious sentiments of Muslims.

The notice further states that Swagata is requested to withdraw the statement, apologize publicly, and inform the notice giver within 7 days of receiving the notice.
