July Shaheed Smrity Foundation General Secretary Md Sarjis Alam has said 'We want to send a clear message on behalf of the students of Bangladesh, especially the young generation of Panchagarh, our attention will gradually turn to each system. Wherever we see injustice, syndicate and extortion, we will uproot it.

He made the remark at a winter clothes distribution programme and views-exchange meeting held at the Government Pilot Model High School ground in Tentulia upazila of Panchagarh district this afternoon.

Sarjis, also one of the student coordinators of the anti-discrimination student movement, said Tentulia is an important place in Bangladesh and the very important Banglabandha Land Port in Tentulia upazila of Panchagarh is a four-country land port.
 
At the time of establishment of the land port, all the people who were supposed to be employed here weren't employed. But, some people have taken everyone hostage by forming a syndicate, he added.
 
He said, “If we are united, we will not allow injustice, syndicates or recruitment trade to take place in the land port.”
 
Adviser to the Ministries of LGRD and Cooperatives and Youth and Sports Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan, advisor to the Ministry of LGRD and Cooperatives and the Ministry of Youth and Sports, addressed the event as the chief guest.
 
With Deputy Commissioner of Panchagarh Md Sabet Ali in the chair, Additional Superintendent of Police Shafiqul Islam, Tentulia Upazila Nirbahi Officer Fazle Rabbi, District Coordinator of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement Mokaddesur Rahman San, District Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Iqbal Hossain, BNP leader Razia Sultana and local union parishad chairman Alamgir Hossain also spoke.

PM reaches Washington DC from New York

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina arrived in Washington DC, the USA capital city, this afternoon after joining the 78th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) session and other high-level side and bilateral events in New York.

 

She reached Washington DC from New York by road at 6pm.

On her arrival in Washington DC, Bangladesh Ambassador to the USA Muhammad Imran received the premier with a flower bouquet, reports BSS.

Earlier, she left her Place of Residence, Lotte New York for Washington DC at 12:30pm.

She arrived in New York on September 17.

The prime minister will leave Washington DC for London, the capital city of the United Kingdom, on September 29.

She will stay in London till October 3.

After wrapping up her visit, the prime minister will leave London for home and scheduled to reach Dhaka on October 4.

Deal to ease trade in taka-rupee to be signed as Hasina

"An MoU will be signed between the National Payments Corporation of India and the Bangladesh Bank to make transactions in rupees and taka between Bangladesh and India easier," said the foreign minister in a press conference at the Foreign Service Academy in the capital on Thursday.

Besides, the neighbouring countries are likely to sign two more memorandums of understanding regarding cooperation in agricultural researches, and extension of the existing cultural exchange programme for two years, said the foreign minister.
