Sub-Inspector (SI) Mostafizar Rahman of Dhunat Police Station in Bogura district has been withdrawn and attached to the police lines following allegations of engaging in an inappropriate relationship with the wife of a complainant's expatriate son while investigating a complaint.
Bogura Superintendent of Police (SP) Mirza Sayem Mahmud signed the withdrawal order on Sunday (July 12, 2026).
It is learnt that a woman from Jorshimul village under Dhunat upazila on June 21 last submitted a written complaint to the police station concerbed regarding a fraudulent overseas job deal.
SI Mostafizar Rahman was assigned to investigate the case, leading to frequent visits to the complainant's house. There are allegations that an inappropriate relationship was developed between SI Mostafizar Rahman and the complainant's daughter-in-law, whose husband works abroad.
As the matter drew attention of senior officials, Dhunat Police Station's Inspector (Investigation) Shukur Ali conducted an investigation at the directive of police super.
During the investigation, an audio recording of inappropriate phone conversations between SI Mostafizar Rahman and the woman was surfaced and reached senior police officials.
SI Shukur Ali submitted the inquiry report to the police super on Friday (July 10) last. Later, SI Mostafizar Rahman was attached to the police lines withdrawing the police station concerned.
A number of sources of Bogra police said SI Mostafizar Rahman had previously worked at Bogura Sadar Police Station. He faced similar allegations while stationed there. Then he was transferred to Dhunat Police Station some five months later.
