Younger brother of the deceased has filed a murder case with the Kafrul Police Station regarding the shooting and killing of Jubo Dal activist Yusuf Ali Parvez by killers at Mirpur Section 13 on late Friday night.
The case was recorded on Saturday (July 25).
Earlier, the murder took place around 11:30pm on Friday (July 24) near Opex Garments at Kafrul area. Following the incident, the injured were rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) in critical condition, where the attending doctor declared Yusuf Ali Pervez dead.
Two others—Monir Hossain (32), a sidewalk clothing vendor, and Nalam Sardar (45), a vegetable vendor—sustained gunshot wounds in the incident.
Meanwhile, locals detained an armed individual during the shooting incident and handed them over to police. However, his name and identity could not be learned immediately.
According to police and hospital sources, around 11:30pm on Friday, four to five unidentified miscreants opened fire indiscriminately at several people, including Yusuf Ali, in front of Opex Garments at E-Block of Mirpur-13 under Kafrul Police Station.
Three people were shot at the scene. Later, relatives quickly rescued them and rushed them to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), where the duty doctor declared Yusuf Ali dead at around 12:40am. He was shot on the right side of his chest.
Nalam Sardar and Monir Hossain, who were shot in the incident, are currently undergoing treatment at the hospital. Doctors said Nalam Sardar was shot on the right side of his head, while Monir Hossain sustained a gunshot wound on his left leg.
Saiful Islam, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kafrul Police Station, confirmed the matter. The police official said three people sustained gunshot wounds during the shooting incident. They were rescued and sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared one of them dead.
He said efforts are currently underway to identify and detain those involved in the incident.
