The pirates shifted the hijacked Bangladeshi ship, MV Abdullah on Friday, a day after taking the vessel near the coast of Garakad, Somalia.
The owner of the MV Abdullah received the news around 3:30 pm on Friday (March 15), said Mizanul Islam, media advisor of the Kabir Group.
He said, "We learned that the pirates have shifted the ship from the coast of Somalia. Besides, the crew members are alright. It is assumed that the pirates are changing the place to retain their control over the ship."
Speaking about this, Mizanul Islam told Khaborer Kagoj, "So far the pirates have not communicated anything about the ransom but we are making all kinds of preparations from our side."
Earlier, at 6 am on Thursday, March 14, Bangladesh time, MV Abdullah was 72 nautical miles off the coast of Somalia.
The Somali pirates took control of the MV Abdullah ship 600 nautical miles before Mogadishu, the capital of Somalia, at around 1:30 PM Bangladesh time on March 12.
The Kabir Group-owned SR Shipping vessel was carrying coal from the African country of Mozambique to the United Arab Emirates. The ship was scheduled to arrive in the United Arab Emirates on March 19.
