Two people were killed when a bus crashed into a motorcycle on Kushtia-Jhenaidah highway at Bottoil in Sadar upazila of Kushtia district on Saturday.

The deceased were identified as Noyon Islam, 25 and Rony, 26, both were workers of  Kiam Metal Industry, reported UNB.

The accident occurred around 7:30 am when the bus hit the motorcycle carrying Nayan and Rony while they were going to their office, leaving them dead on the spot.

Angered by the accident, local people put up barricades on Kushtia-Jhenaidah highway, creating traffic jams on both sides of the highway, said Joydeb, sub-inspector of Chourhash Police camp.

However, police are trying to bring the situation under control.

"An MoU will be signed between the National Payments Corporation of India and the Bangladesh Bank to make transactions in rupees and taka between Bangladesh and India easier," said the foreign minister in a press conference at the Foreign Service Academy in the capital on Thursday.

Besides, the neighbouring countries are likely to sign two more memorandums of understanding regarding cooperation in agricultural researches, and extension of the existing cultural exchange programme for two years, said the foreign minister.
