'We want to make next polls as clean as mirror': CEC
Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin presides over a dialogue on Monday (October 6, 2025) at the Election Commission Secretariat at Agargaon in the capital.

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin has said they want to make the next parliamentary election as transparent as a mirror and show the entire world about their success.

"We want to move forward with transparency. Our goal is an election that is free, fair, and acceptable to all. We want the world to witness it. We want this election to be as clean as a mirror," he said.

The CEC made the remarks while presiding over a dialogue with journalists from electronic media around 10.30am on Monday (October 6) at the Election Commission Secretariat at Agargaon in the capital.

During his speech, the CEC sought support and cooperation from the mass media to hold a transparent, fair and credible election.

"We want to hold a transparent and clean election. For that, we need the cooperation of the media," he said.

Highlighting the role of media, the CEC said, "You are our partners. You can play a vital role in countering misinformation and disinformation. We value your advice and cooperation in our efforts to hold a participatory, peaceful and credible election."

The dialogue was attended by Election Commissioners and senior EC officials.

As part of its preparations for the 13th National Parliament Election, the EC is engaging key stakeholders through a series of dialogues. 

According to EC Secretariat Director (Public Relations) and Information Officer Md. Ruhul Amin Mollick, the commission will hold a separate session with print media journalists from 2:30pm to 4:30pm on Monday.

On Tuesday, the EC will exchange views with election experts from 10:30am to 12:30pm, followed by a meeting with women leaders from 2:30pm to 4:30pm at the same venue.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina arrived in Washington DC, the USA capital city, this afternoon after joining the 78th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) session and other high-level side and bilateral events in New York.

 

She reached Washington DC from New York by road at 6pm.

On her arrival in Washington DC, Bangladesh Ambassador to the USA Muhammad Imran received the premier with a flower bouquet, reports BSS.

Earlier, she left her Place of Residence, Lotte New York for Washington DC at 12:30pm.

She arrived in New York on September 17.

The prime minister will leave Washington DC for London, the capital city of the United Kingdom, on September 29.

She will stay in London till October 3.

After wrapping up her visit, the prime minister will leave London for home and scheduled to reach Dhaka on October 4.

"An MoU will be signed between the National Payments Corporation of India and the Bangladesh Bank to make transactions in rupees and taka between Bangladesh and India easier," said the foreign minister in a press conference at the Foreign Service Academy in the capital on Thursday.

Besides, the neighbouring countries are likely to sign two more memorandums of understanding regarding cooperation in agricultural researches, and extension of the existing cultural exchange programme for two years, said the foreign minister.
