The government has extended the tenure of the National Consensus Commission (NCC) until October 31, adding another 15 days.
A gazette notification signed by cabinet secretary Sheikh Abdul Rashid stated that the extension order took effect immediately upon issuance.
The seven-member commission, led by Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus, was formed on 12 February. Initially, the commission was given six months to submit its report, meaning its tenure was set to expire on 15 August.
However, as the commission was unable to complete its work on time, the government extended its tenure twice before each time by one month. Now, the government has extended it for a third time, adding another 15 days.
