BNP nominated candidate Shama Obaid has unofficially been elected in the Faridpur-2 (Saltha and Nagarkanda) constituency in the 13th Jatiya Sangsad election.
She has won in the results received from all 117 polling centres in the Faridpur-2 (Saltha and Nagarkanda) constituency.
Shama Obaid bagged 1,20,909 votes with the 'Sheaf of Paddy' symbol, while her nearest rival Shah Akram Ali with 'Rickshaw' symbol secured 87,956 votes.
Shama Obaid's father KM Obaidur Rahman was BNP Secretary General. KM Obaidur Rahman was born at Laskardia, Nagarkanda upazila, in the then Faridpur district of East Bengal under British Raj. He earned his MA degree in 1964 from the University of Dhaka.
