The Appeallate Division of the Supreme Court has upheld the bails in five cases related to the July uprising which were granted to former mayor of Narayanganj City Corporation (NCC) Selina Hayat Ivy by the High Court earlier.
As a result, there is no bar for her release, said lawyers.
The Appeallate Division led by theChief Justice passed the order on Sunday (May 10). On behalf of Ivy, Barrister Sara Hossain and Advocate Motahar Hossain Saju argued at the court.
Ivy was detained from his Narayanganj Deovog house on May 9, 2025, and was later shown arrested in three murder cases and two attempt to murder cases.
In November last year, the High Court had granted bail to Ivy in five cases, including over the murder of garment worker Minarul Islam, filed over incidents during the July Uprising.
However, the Appellate Division later stayed the HC orders of bail in all five cases.
Ivy was subsequently shown arrested in five other cases, including four over murder, filed with Fatullah police station.
