Five people have been killed after a BRTC passenger bus and an ambulance collided head-on at Nagarkanda in Faridpur district.
The accident happened at about 10:30am on Sunday at Shankarpasha Bus Stand on the Dhaka-Barishal highway.
All the deceased were the passengers of the ambulance. However, names and addresses of the deceased could not be known till writing this report in the early afternoon.
It is learnt that a Faridpur-bound BRTC passenger bus from Bhanga rammed a Faridpur-bound ambulance coming from the opposite direction at Shankarpasha bus stand on Sunday morning, leaving the ambulance got twisted and five of its passengers killed on the spot.
Bhanga Highway Police Station's officer-in-charge (OC) Md Helal Uddin told reporters that receiving information, Nagarkanda Upazila Fire Service and Highway Police rushed to the spot and started rescue operation. Five dead bodies were recovered but their names and addresses could not be kown.
