Chargesheet has been submitted against Sohel Rana and his wife Swapna Akter in a case filed over the murder of eight-year old schoolgirl Ramisa Akter after rape at Pallabi in the capital.
Sub-Inspector Md Ohiduzzaman, Investigation Officer (IO) of the case at Pallabi Police Station, submitted the 47-page chargesheet to the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court of Dhaka on Sunday (May 24).
Earlier, SI Ohiduzzaman said preparation was going on to make chargesheet after receiving DNA test report.
On Saturday, the IO of the case received DNA, postmortem and vicera reports. CID's Special Police Super (Media) Jasim Uddin Khan said all the forensic reports have already been handed over to the investigation officer.
At night on May 21, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman visited Ramisa's house at Pallabi. Later, Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed told journalists that chargesheet in the murder case would be submitted to court on Sunday.
"If it is possible to submit chargesheet before Eid, trial of the accused will be started immediately after Eid holidays," said Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Md Asaduzzaman. At the same time, he said the government is closely monitoring other rape cases apart from Ramisa's case.
